The Disput of the two (opposing) players, horn and piano, adds to the repertoire for this duet instrumentation due to its lively belligerence. In their musical debate, the opponents do not shy away from loud accents and confident dissonances, yet they also try to convince each other through carefully recited arguments. In the course of the powerful piece it becomes clear that the opponents are much more alike than initially presumed. Martin Christoph Redel, professor of composition at the Detmold Hochschule für Musik, presents a striking piece which sparks a fascinating exchange of views. The composer also wrote a version for horn and orchestra.
